The TV screen displayed a '0' momentarily, indicating to me that it is now region free.

Inserted my 'Shameless Series 5' disc from UK and it got going.

Hello Paul.

Thank you for taking the time for such a lengthy reply.

During these last few months I was able to unlock quite a few DVD players.

Let me remember... two portable Philips, an old Sony, an LG, a portable Coby, and a couple more I can't recall right now.

I can't remember the models numbers, sorry for that.

I live on the little island of Malta now, and can now play all my imported movies.

The machine I unblocked was a LG DRT389H.

The biggest difficulty was getting the machine to show codes on the TV screen.

It worked in the end and I was very glad of the advice to make a copy of the codes displayed, as I did alter some of them by accident and was able to re-enter them from the list I made.

Well I have to say the testimonials are true.

In my correspondence with DVDExploder I mentioned about my Mustec DVD player not working correctly.

I was given a code which showed the player region area. I changed it to region 0 and now I'm region free.

I took the liberty of trying a batch codes from your site one after the other.

The player is now region free.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the patience to test with a disc after each code (and there was no visible indication from the player when it worked), so I can't help your database by telling you which one it was - sorry.

But if anyone else requests the same model, one of the original codes you list 'will' work.

After using your instructions for my model LG DR7400 I am now able to view Region 1 DVDs or indeed any Region I want to input.

The instructions were quite brief & I was expecting them not to work.

I am so, so pleased that within a couple of minutes the DVD player was changed to Region 1 and just as easy to switch to any other Region including back to Region 2 which is the predominant one for me.

Thank you so so much. I am over the moon. My favourite film at present is "The Christmas Card" starring John Newton, Alice Evans & Ed Asner.

There is obviously a part of the media monopoly establishment who do not want you to do at all what it is you do.

But, it is they who are very wrong and have no logical, ethical basis for preventing machines from reading DVDs from anywhere in the world.

You are doing a very necessary service and, c/o my review, for example, you are doing it well.

As we near French say about the next course in a dinner, "Bon Continuation".

Sir,

I forgot one line of the display results in your email:

"Regioncode DVD(0) BD(B)".

As I saw later, the (0) means region free.

I began testing up to 20 PALs and NTSCs other DVDs and they all worked fine on the BDP5180.

The problem has been only the one disc so far.

Even an old PAL Indian CD Video (3 disks) of "The Guide" played on the BDP5180.

I have just bought a Phillips BDP5180/12, registered with you, noted the instructions and the DVD player became zone free.

Comment: If I buy a DVD anywhere in the world in a retail store, I have paid within the DVD price any royalties or fees due an artist or company making the DVD, the film, etc..

To prevent me playing this DVD anywhere in the world, is absurd and obscene.

I've already paid all that is due. But, I am prevented by a totally monopolistic procedure from viewing it, till an enterprise like yours helps the consumer.

Swonderful, smarvellous. It works.

Problem was that having highlighted the 16:9 aspect ratio, I was expecting a little window to show up in which the numbers would appear as I keyed them in.

In the absence of such a window and not seeing any evidence on the screen of my having keyed in anything at all, I assumed the system was locked and prevented me from continuing in the prescribed manner.

I should have remembered my old boss' adage that 'assuming makes an ass out of u and me' and just continued as per the instructions.

I had another go and got it to work – like you say in your instructions, you have to be fairly quick with the keying in.

The number came up on the top right hand of the screen so I was able to key in ‘9’ and follow the remaining instructions.

With the Samsung DVD player, well it turned out it was an extremely dirty lens. It now plays region free using your code.

I hard to "Force" the player to read the cleaning disc, it seemed to reset it self every time I pressed 'close'.

The Teac now works fine as well.

Hi guys,

I bought the latest Sony BDP-S760 knowing it probably wouldn't play my import DVDs - and it didn't.

Most frustratingly of all, I would see the message - "play back prohibited by region code".

So, I found your website and I have to say I WAS sceptical, but nevertheless, took the plunge and joined your community.

I want to say THANKYOU big time. The remote unlock code listed on your site for Sony... WORKED.

ALL of my imported DVDs now play.

I don't understand why they do these regional locks.

It's fine if you can buy the DVD in your own country but the film we had bought was a 1970s thriller, a British film I bought in France.

After a bit more perseverance and using the area 4 code I had success. We’re now able to play our favourite UK DVD’s. I’m now off to try it out on a couple of other DVD players that we have.

In getting back so quickly it encouraged me to continue with the process rather than mumbling about companies & ideas that don’t work the way you think they should.

Would recommend your site to any friends who may have the same problem.

My recent move from the UK to Australia meant by faithful Sony DVD Recorder/player didn't work with local DVD's.
